Role of Stories in ELT
Being an English teacher for Arab students compels me to alter the traditional methodologies of ELT. I find this to be more challenging and interesting. In our institution we offer 200 hours of English classes.The trainees have already completed their college degrees. Here our teachers have to meet the students everyday for 1 hour.

A funny topic? No! It is very serious. As an English teacher, do you make your students learn what they need to know? There are courses all over the world that promise a Himalayan change in every learner. I don’t think the learners have got what they want in most occasions.

Whatever may be the subject you teach, it is important how you present it to your students. A good teacher knows which topic needs more attention and which one doesn’t. A good teacher knows where to pause and where to increase the pace.
Don’t get disheartened when you have to teach beginners
Teaching English to beginners is quite tricky. A teacher who is accustomed to teach only intermediate and advanced level students may find it so intricate dealing with beginners. If you just walk into a classroom full of beginners and start speaking fluently, you can see faces with question marks looking at you as an alien.

Teaching English in the Gulf region is challenging as well as exciting. All institutions pay a lot of attention in improving the knowledge of English.Any ESL teacher faces the tough problem of teaching the language in a creative and innovative method.
